Our costs include travel from Romania or country of origin, also paperwork and veterinary care, Vaccinations, Rabies vaccination, Brucellosis blood test sent to the UK lab, but some vets are asking for a re-test after 3 months of being in the UK depending on what your UK vet suggests.

*Brucellosis is now being tested September 2024 by sending a blood sample to the UK labs instead of the B.C snap test which we have been doing previosuly, more information on this can be found on our Brucell information page.

Our dogs also have a 4DX snap test – The test is run to screen your pet for six vector-borne diseases. When we run this test we are checking your dog for Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia canis, Ehrlichia ewingi, Anaplasma phagocytophilum and Anaplasma platys.

The Adoption Donation will also include full rescue back up (means you cant legally re-home privately and must come back to One paw.  includes a pet passport or vaccination records.

Thank you for offering one of our dogs a loving home.

Brucella testing before and after adoption

Veterinary checks and treatments

All our dogs from abroad are Fully checked by our vet teams and have had rabies vaccinations, 4DX snap tests and Bruccella tests.

The 4Dx snap test in the veterinary world is a blood test that is run in the hospital and provides results in 8 minutes. The test is a screening process for six vector-borne diseases. We are checking your dog for Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia Canis, Ehrlichia Ewingi, Anaplasma phagocytophilum and Anaplasma platys, we also test for brucellosis.

All our dogs are fully vaccinated, microchipped, treated for fleas and worms, Neutered unless medically exempt or they are under age to be neutered by our vets at the time and will leave with Neutering contract.

Adoption process

Stage One – Submitting an interest form

All dogs available for adoption will have been assessed by the One Paw Team to establish the kind of home they would be most suited to, depending on their temperament and needs. Once you have seen the dog you would like to adopt, fill out the interest form. We will then process your application and if we feel you are a suitable match, we will get in touch to discuss your application further. A meet with the dog will then be arranged. This will usually take place at the foster home, or on neutral ground such as a park close to the foster home. a reservation fee would then be paid to reserve the dog pending a home check.

Stage Two – Successful home-check

The One Paw Team will arrange for someone to visit the applicant’s house to complete a home check. This is to ensure the property provides a suitable and safe environment for the dog. The garden will be checked thoroughly to ensure there is no possible means of escape. If any areas are identified as a risk, the applicant will be given a reasonable amount of time to make the garden fully secure.

Stage Three – Payment and paperwork

Once the adoption has been confirmed, the adoption contract will need to be completed and signed by the applicant.

The adoption fee will need to be made by bank transfer. The deposit previously paid will be deducted from the final adoption fee

The adoption fee will need to be paid in full before the dog can be collected.

The adoption fee is used towards the cost of travel, vets fees, and other costs accrued whilst in foster; these costs are usually more than the adoption donation.

All our One Paws are vaccinated, microchipped, fully treated for fleas and worms. Adults will be neutered whilst puppies will be done as soon as possible, following veterinary advice.
