🐾 Meet Luther 🐾

Location: Ilkeston
From: China Meat Trade
Age: Approximately 5 years old
Luther is an adorable little male dog and he’s already proven that great things truly do come in small packages. Living in a home with four other dogs (two male and two female), Luther has settled in beautifully and shown himself to be a loving, gentle, and playful companion.

First Impressions
Since Luther first arrived in foster care his personality has begun to shine through and he has transformed into a happy, energetic little dog, running around, playing with toys, and enjoying lots of cuddles with his foster family.

Personality & Temperament
Luther is incredibly affectionate and enjoys being
around people. He happily interacts with the whole household, although he does have a slight preference for women. That said, he is friendly and comfortable with men too.
He is also great with visitors, showing no signs of aggression, just curiosity, playfulness, and a desire for affection.

Living with Other Dogs
Despite his tiny size, Luther fits in wonderfully with other dogs. He gets along very well with his foster siblings, who seem to respect his size and gentle nature. He enjoys playing with them and has shown no aggression at all.
Luther would love to live with another small, friendly dog for companionship and to play with. He could maybe live as an only dog if someone is at home a lot of the time.

Playtime & Fun
Luther loves to play! He enjoys soft toys and has a cheeky habit of stealing socks around the house. His playful nature has really blossomed during his time in foster, alongside a growing confidence.

Walking & Outdoors
Luther walks nicely on the lead and hasn’t reacted negatively to other dogs while out. Due to his small size, care needs to be taken around high pavements and grates. He can be a little nervous around loud noises like buses and lorries, sometimes cowering, so reassurance and gentle handling are important.

Feeding & Routine
Luther loves his food but is very polite. If another dog approaches his bowl, he will simply step away. For this reason, he’s currently fed in his crate to ensure he gets his full meal.
He takes treats gently and has shown no food aggression.

Home Life
Luther currently lives with two female and 2 male dogs. He has settled beautifully into this mixed household and enjoys being part of the pack.
He is mostly housetrained. He understands going outside but may occasionally have the odd accident. With consistency, this should continue to improve.
He has been left for a few hours with other dogs and has coped perfectly well, with access to most of the house. At night, he sleeps soundly on the bed and isn’t easily disturbed, waking around 6am.

Handling & Care
• Loves having his harness put on (it means walk time!)
• Tolerates baths without fuss, though he’s still getting used to them
• Travels happily in the car, often sitting on a lap
• Has not yet been introduced to cats or children

Health
Luther is microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, and has had all necessary health checks including a negative Brucella Canis test (UK APHA Lab) and 4DX snap test.

Progress in Foster
Since arriving in foster care Luther’s confidence and playfulness have grown significantly. While he may have started off a little unsure, he’s now a happy, loving dog who thrives on companionship and fun.

The Perfect Home
Luther would suit a home that can offer:
• Plenty of love and attention
• A calm, patient environment (especially around loud outdoor noises)
• A friendly, small dog companion
Not yet tested with children or cats.

In Summary
Luther is a sweet, affectionate, and playful little dog with a big personality. He may be tiny, but his capacity for love is enormous. With the right home, he will make a truly wonderful companion.
