🖤 About Shadow

Shadow is a lively, affectionate young adult who has settled well into foster care. She is playful, inquisitive, and enjoys being part of a dog “pack”. Once she feels comfortable, she forms strong bonds with her people and enjoys companionship.

🏡 Home & Routine
Shadow is:
• Fully crate trained – her crate is her safe space and she chooses to rest there
• House trained – she lets you know when she needs to go outside
• Settled overnight – sleeps in her crate with no issues
• Comfortable being left for up to 3 hours (with other dogs)
She enjoys routine and responds well to clear boundaries.

🐕 Social Skills
With dogs:
Shadow enjoys the company of other dogs and likes to play. She would be best suited to living with one calm, well-matched dog or as an only dog. She can be possessive over toys, which can lead to conflict if not managed, so toy sharing should be supervised or avoided in multi-dog homes.
With people:
She is friendly with people in the home. Shadow may be a little nervous on first meeting new people and may bark initially, but she settles once she feels safe.
Children:
Potentially suitable for a home with older, dog-aware children who understand boundaries and her needs.
Cats:
Not tested.

🚶 Walks & Outdoor Life
• Walks nicely and becomes excited when getting ready
• Still building confidence outdoors and can be cautious around unfamiliar people and new noises
• Has had limited interaction with unfamiliar dogs while out walking

🍽️ Food & Handling
• Not food aggressive
• Fed alongside other dogs with no issues
• May attempt to steal leftover food if given the chance
She is excellent for having her collar, harness, and coat put on, sitting calmly and cooperatively.

🚗 Travel
Shadow travels well in the car and enjoys looking out of the window.

⚠️ Things to Be Aware Of
• Can guard toys and become reactive if challenged by other dogs over resources
• Will join in barking at the front door with other dogs
• Benefits from clear structure, management of toys, and continued training

🏠 Ideal Home
Shadow would suit a home:
• With experience of dog behaviour or willingness to continue training
• Either as an only dog or with one calm resident dog
• With consistent routines and positive reinforcement
• Where her boundaries around toys are respected

Shadow has been microchipped, spayed, and vaccinated. She has tested negative for Brucella Canis (UK APHA Lab), had her rabies vaccination, and her 4DX snap test was also negative.
