About Harbin

Harbin has spent over two and a half years in kennels, so stepping into a home for the first time was a huge change for him. But this sweet boy has taken everything in stride and is blossoming more each day. He’s gone from being anxious and unsure to a dog who absolutely loves affection, company, and being part of family life.

He’s gentle, intelligent, eager to please and learns new routines quickly. Harbin is now fully relaxed around his foster family and has shown what a loving and loyal companion he can be.

🏡 In the Home

Harbin enjoys being close to his humans and will happily soak up all the attention offered! He is still a little wary of new noises or sudden movements, but he settles quickly and gains confidence every day.

He currently sleeps in a crate at night (with the door open) and settles beautifully. He enjoys watching the other dogs settle too and sleeps through without fuss.

Harbin loves his chew toys — especially ones he can really get stuck into — and is learning how fun tug of war and fetch can be.

🐕 With Other Dogs

Harbin lives with several resident dogs and does very well with them.

  • He may bark when separated by a barrier, simply because he wants to be included.
  • At mealtimes he can get excited, so he is fed separately to prevent any pushy behaviour.

There is no aggression, just eagerness and enthusiasm. He is doing brilliantly with guidance and routines.

Harbin can 100% be rehomed as an only dog or with other friendly dogs.

🚶‍♂️ On Walks

This boy LOVES his walks!

  • Doesn’t pull on lead
  • No reactivity to people, dogs or traffic
  • Enjoys exploring grassy areas
  • Gaining confidence even on busier roads

He walks calmly, checks in with his handler, and really enjoys spending time outdoors.

🧸 Training & Behaviour

Harbin is a clever lad and picks up new commands quickly. He responds well to gentle guidance and routine.
He is housetrained in that he will go toilet outside when taken, though he hasn’t quite mastered letting you know he needs to go — but he will paw or jump at the door if you’re nearby.

He was initially unsure of his crate door being closed but now uses the crate comfortably with the door open.

No signs of aggression at all. Any nervousness was mild and only in the first few days.

🚗 Travelling

Harbin has had a short car journey. He was a little stressed at first, but with reassurance settled well. Continued positive experiences will help build his confidence.

👨‍👩‍👧 Children & Visitors

Harbin has not met children in the home, but he has seen many on the school run with no issues.
We believe he would suit a home with older, calm, dog-savvy children.

There have been no home visitors yet, but based on his temperament outdoors, the foster feels he would handle this well.
