🐾 Meet Daphne 🐾

Age: Approx. 16 months
Status: Ready for Adoption

Daphne is medium in size, and currently in a foster home in Ilkeston with 2 other dogs.

Daphne is a beautiful young girl who has come on leaps and bounds since arriving in foster care. When she first arrived, she was extremely frightened and spent much of her first day curled up quietly on the sofa. With patience, kindness, and routine, she has blossomed into a gentle, affectionate companion who is gaining confidence every single day.

Personality & Temperament
Daphne is a sweet, sensitive soul. She bonds strongly with her foster mum and daughter and enjoys cuddles once she feels safe. She is still wary of men and unfamiliar visitors, but given time, space, and a calm approach, she is happy to come over in her own time—especially if treats are involved! She has never shown any aggression and remains gentle and polite at all times.
She is naturally nervous but incredibly loving and with continued reassurance she has the potential to be an absolutely amazing dog for life.

Other Dogs & Animals
Daphne lives happily with two resident dogs (one male, one female). She plays nicely and has grown much more confident over time. Because she can be a little boisterous during play, she may be best suited to living with a dog of a similar size, or she would be perfectly happy as an only dog where she can soak up all the love.
She has been cat tested and showed no reaction.

Walks & Social Life
Daphne walks nicely on lead and is not reactive to other dogs. She is happy for dogs to approach her, though she isn’t confident enough to initiate play. She has been to the local pub and settled well, and traffic noises no longer bother her. Loud or sudden noises can still startle her, but she is improving all the time.
She has not yet been fully off-lead.

Home Life
• House trained with only minimal accidents
• Happy being left for up to 4 hours
• Sleeps upstairs and loves curling up on the bed
• No crate – has free run of the home
• Eats well alongside other dogs, with no issues
• Gentle when taking treats (and very polite!)

Play, Grooming & Handling
Daphne loves toys, filled marrow bones, and Yakers bars. She enjoys being brushed and absolutely loves bath time. She has no issues with wearing a collar or harness and knows that means walkies!

Travel & Health
She was nervous on her first car journey and became travel-sick, so this will need gradual, positive reintroduction. She has not needed a vet visit in foster but is due for her booster. vaccinations.

Children
Daphne has not lived with children, so we are unable to fully assess this. A calm household with older, dog-savvy children may be suitable.

The Perfect Home
Daphne would thrive in a patient, understanding home that can continue building her confidence at her pace. A quieter environment with consistent routines and kind handling would be ideal. In return, she will reward her adopter with loyalty, affection, and companionship.

Daphne truly is a special girl who just needs someone to believe in her. 💖

Daphne is microchipped, vaccinated and spayed.

She is 4DX snap tested with negative results,  has had a rabies vaccination and has had a blood test for Brucella Canis at the APHA Lab in the UK which was negative.
